Offence Summary

Andrae Marshall, a paedophile from Sutton Coldfield, sexually assaulted two schoolgirls by claiming he needed to physically examine them to check if they were virgins, leading to severe psychological harm for both victims.

Full Description

A paedophile from Sutton Coldfield has been jailed for more than four years following despicable sex attacks on two schoolgirls. Andrae Marshall, 48, targeted the young victims under the pretence of needing to 'physically examine' them, engaging in sexual activity that has caused enduring psychological trauma.

The offences came to light when both girls disclosed the abuse to police. At Wolverhampton Crown Court, prosecutor Adam Western detailed how Marshall drove his first victim, who was in her school uniform, to a secluded spot near his home in Langley Hall Road, Sutton Coldfield. He asked if she was a virgin and, upon her affirmation, insisted on checking, before assaulting her. The victim described the profound impact in a statement read to the court: 'I feel like I'm a foreigner in my own body as he took control and used it for his own pleasure. I struggle to sleep. When I close my eyes, I remember what happened to me.' She changed her style of dress post-assault, opting for dark, baggy clothes, and has suffered nightmares and multiple suicide attempts.

  • Marshall repeated similar actions with a second victim, telling her he wanted to see if she was 'still a virgin' and proceeding despite her challenges.
  • The second girl only realised the severity after confiding in her mother, stating: 'I spend a lot of time blaming myself and overthinking everything.'
  • Both victims endured severe psychological harm, as outlined by the prosecution.

Defending, Seamran Sidhu noted Marshall's remorse and productive use of time on remand, including a trusted role in prison dispatch. Prior to arrest, he worked for DPD and FedEx, with a job offer awaiting release. His partner remains supportive. A pre-sentence report classified the crimes as opportunistic for sexual gratification. Marshall has prior convictions for making a false statement and battery, but none for sexual offences.

Judge Neil Chawla, sentencing on 20 September 2024, emphasised the 'enduring and long-lasting harm' inflicted. Marshall admitted two counts of sexual activity with a child between June 2020 and March 2022. He received 51 months' imprisonment and must sign the sex offenders register indefinitely. The case was reported by Birmingham Live, highlighting the 'monster's' cruel actions against vulnerable schoolgirls.
