Offence Summary

Callum Green was found guilty of outraging public decency after performing a sex act using a rocking horse and a branch in a Hartlepool play area. He failed to attend his sentencing hearing, leading to an arrest warrant being issued.

Full Description

Callum Green, a 19-year-old resident of Hartlepool, was convicted at Teesside Magistrates' Court of the common law offence of outraging public decency following a trial where he denied the charges. The incident occurred on the morning of 19 October 2024 in Burn Valley Gardens, a public play area in Hartlepool, County Durham, England.

According to the charge, Green committed an act outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner in a public place. Specifically, he inserted parts of a 'rocking horse' inside himself whilst masturbating and then pulled a branch off a tree and penetrated himself with it. The act was witnessed and reported, leading to his arrest by Cleveland Police.

Green had previously pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000, related to the incident. He was scheduled for sentencing on Friday, 14 November 2025, at Teesside Magistrates' Court. However, Green failed to appear, prompting District Judge Marie Mallon to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Neil Taylor, representing Green, informed the court that the teenager had been taken to hospital by his mother, explaining his absence. Despite this, the judge proceeded with the warrant, as the court requires attendance for sentencing in such cases. The full details of the conviction and the impending sentence were reported by Teesside Live, highlighting the public nature of the offence in a family-oriented park.

This case underscores the seriousness with which UK courts treat public indecency offences, particularly those involving sexual acts in areas accessible to children and families. Green remains at large pending his arrest and sentencing.
