Full Description

Alexander McClymont, a 38-year-old man from Nottingham, has been jailed for nine years and two months following his conviction for multiple counts of sexual abuse against a child. The offences, which began around a decade ago, came to light in 2022 when the victim bravely disclosed the abuse she had endured.

McClymont, now residing at Erewash Gardens in Top Valley, Nottingham, was investigated by Nottinghamshire Police after the victim's revelation. Despite denying all charges, he was tried at Nottingham Crown Court and found guilty by a jury of nine serious sexual offences. These included eight counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of sexual assault. The court proceedings highlighted the prolonged and devious nature of the abuse, which had a severe emotional and psychological impact on the victim.

Sentencing occurred on 9 April 2026, where Judge [name not specified] imposed the custodial sentence. In addition to imprisonment, McClymont was made subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order to restrict his activities upon release and was required to register as a sex offender for life. The investigation was led by Detective Constable Stacey Lebeter of Nottinghamshire Police's Child Abuse Investigation Unit.

Detective Constable Lebeter commended the victim's courage, stating: 'Firstly, I’d like to pay tribute to the incredible courage and strength shown by the victim in coming forward and supporting this investigation through to court proceedings. As the court heard, the emotional and psychological impact on her has been severe and her bravery has been vital in bringing this offender to justice.' She further described McClymont as 'a devious and calculating sexual predator who committed truly appalling offences against a child,' noting his lack of remorse and the ordeal's exacerbation due to his denials. Lebeter expressed relief that he is now incarcerated and no longer poses a danger to children, while encouraging other victims to come forward.

This case, reported by Nottinghamshire Police on 13 April 2026, underscores the force's commitment to investigating historical child sexual abuse and securing justice for victims.
