Muhammed Afsan

Offence Summary

Muhammed Afsan sexually assaulted a boy on two occasions in the back of his car, breaching a previous Sexual Risk Order by having a girl under 18 present in the front seat.

Full Description

Muhammed Afsan, 43, of Lynfield Drive, Bradford, received an eight-year prison sentence at Bradford Crown Court for his role in sexually abusing a boy. Afsan, who had four previous convictions including for supplying cocaine and heroin, was convicted alongside Mohammed Naveed of 12 offences following a jury trial. The court was told that Afsan twice had sex with the boy in the back of his car, rewarding him with money or vapes, while a girl was present in the front seat on each occasion. This presence breached a previously imposed Sexual Risk Order that prohibited Afsan from having a female aged under 18 in his car.

During sentencing, Mr Recorder Patrick Palmer noted the 'serious offending' committed by the pair, warranting immediate imprisonment. Afsan did not admit to the offences, which were described in court as 'consensual.' He will serve two-thirds of his eight-year sentence and, upon release, be subject to licence. Like his co-offender, Afsan was issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must register as a sex offender for life.

Prosecutor Louise Reevell outlined the details of the assaults, emphasising the exploitative elements. The case, reported by Tony Earnshaw for the Bradford Telegraph and Argus, underscores the ongoing efforts to combat child sexual exploitation in West Yorkshire.
