Full Description

Adam Guttridge, a 40-year-old resident of Wolverhampton, was involved in a case concerning the possession of child sex abuse material. On 9 December 2024, police officers from West Midlands Police acted on intelligence linked to his IP address and attended his home address on Weyhill Close. Guttridge, who was at home with his family at the time, immediately requested to speak with the officers and took full responsibility for his actions. He made further admissions during questioning at the police station.

A subsequent search of Guttridge's Apple computer revealed a total of 1,168 still and moving indecent images of children, depicting victims aged between five and 13 years old. Prosecutor Matthew Bolt outlined these findings at Wolverhampton Crown Court, emphasising the severity of the content. Guttridge, who had no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, covering the period from 7 September 2024 to 8 December 2024.

In mitigation, defence barrister Samantha Powis, privately instructed for the case, highlighted Guttridge's fragile mental health and his ongoing wait for cognitive behavioural therapy at Dorothy Pattinson Hospital in Walsall. She argued for a community order over a suspended sentence, noting that it could provide longer-term supervision and support through the probation service. Judge Robert Talog Davies, during sentencing on 8 December 2025, acknowledged Guttridge's genuine remorse and realistic prospect of rehabilitation, stating that 'more can be achieved' with him working alongside probation.

The court imposed a 24-month community order on Guttridge, including a 55-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 150 hours of unpaid work. No fine was applied due to his significant debts, as the judge expressed anxiety about exacerbating his financial situation. Additionally, Guttridge was placed on the sex offenders register for five years and subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order to mitigate future risks.
