Offence Summary

Kamran Khan was convicted of indecent assault and false imprisonment for his part in the grooming and sexual abuse of teenage girls in Oxford between 1998 and 2005.

Full Description

Kamran Khan, 36, from Northfield Road, Bolton, was found guilty at Oxford Crown Court as a member of a seven-man gang that groomed and sexually exploited five vulnerable teenage girls aged 13 to 15 from 1998 to 2005. The group committed more than 20 sexual offences, preying on girls with difficult home backgrounds.

The prosecution, led by Oliver Saxby QC, detailed the 'predatory sexual exploitation' involving grooming through alcohol, drugs, and false promises of acceptance, culminating in rapes and assaults at parties, in vehicles, and outdoors. Victims endured threats and violence to ensure compliance.

Khan was convicted of indecent assault and false imprisonment, but not guilty of rape. Thames Valley Police's Det Ch Insp Mark Glover emphasised the victims' resilience against the 'unimaginable cruelty' faced. The trial, subject to prior reporting bans, concluded with sentencing scheduled for June 2018.
