Full Description

A 37-year-old man from Yeovil, Nathan Watson, has been sentenced at Taunton Crown Court for possessing and making indecent images of children, as well as extreme pornography. The case came to light following a police visit to his former address in Rosebery Avenue, Yeovil, on June 13, 2023, where officers uncovered disturbing material on his electronic devices.

According to court records, Watson pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to child sexual abuse material. Between October 2, 2016, and June 14, 2023, he made 97 Category A indecent images of children, 79 Category B images, and 115 Category C images. On the same date in June 2023, he was found in possession of four prohibited images of a child and eight extreme pornographic images depicting acts of intercourse with a dog.

  • Making 97 Category A indecent images of children (2016-2023)
  • Making 79 Category B indecent images of children (2016-2023)
  • Making 115 Category C indecent images of children (2016-2023)
  • Possession of four prohibited images of a child (June 13, 2023)
  • Possession of eight extreme pornographic images (June 13, 2023)

Sentencing occurred on February 27, 2026, at Taunton Crown Court in Somerset. Judge [name not specified in article] imposed a community order lasting until August 26, 2027. Watson, who now resides at an address in Willow Walk, Exeter, was required to complete up to 35 days of rehabilitation activities and 150 hours of unpaid work within 12 months. Additionally, he must register as a sex offender with Avon and Somerset Police for eight years, reporting to Yeovil police station from January 27, 2026. A sexual harm prevention order was granted until February 26, 2034, and he may be barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.

The prosecution highlighted the severity of the offences, noting the prolonged period over which the images were created and stored. Watson appeared before Somerset Magistrates earlier in the year from his Exeter address before the case proceeded to Crown Court. This sentencing reflects ongoing efforts by Avon and Somerset Police to combat child sexual exploitation in the South West region.
