A 21-year-old man from Weymouth, Dorset, has been sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court for serious sexual offences involving indecent images of children. Coby Roper, residing on Canberra Crescent in Littlemoor, pleaded guilty to a total of six counts related to the making and distribution of indecent pseudo-images.

The offences included three counts of making indecent pseudo-images of a child, categorised as A, B, and C, with category A being the most severe. Additionally, Roper admitted to three counts of distributing such images, comprising two category A offences and one category B. Investigations revealed that he had made 413 category A images, 571 category B images, and 895 category C images, highlighting the extensive nature of his activities.

On Friday, 20 March 2024, at Bournemouth Crown Court, Roper was handed a two-year custodial sentence, which was suspended for two years. This means he avoided immediate imprisonment provided he does not re-offend within that period. The court also imposed further requirements, including 10 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR), 200 hours of unpaid work, and a sexual harm prevention order lasting 10 years. Roper will be required to register as a sex offender.
