Offence Summary

Wadie Sharif was charged with one count of rape, two counts of attempted rape, and three counts of sexual assault on girls aged 14 and 15 in 2022 and 2023.

Full Description

Wadie Sharif, a 21-year-old Syrian national living in a flat on Blenheim Road, Westbury Park, Bristol, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on 12 November 2025, requiring an interpreter during proceedings related to alleged child sexual offences.

Sharif faces six charges in total: one count of raping a 15-year-old girl on 5 April 2023; two counts of attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl in November or December 2022; and three counts of sexual assault on a female in December 2022. These offences are connected to a broader investigation into the sexual exploitation of at least 11 teenage girls in Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police's inquiry, which started in April 2024, led to Sharif's re-arrest on 11 November 2025. As the third defendant in court, he confirmed his details without entering a plea. Judge Lynn Matthews remanded him in custody, with the case set to proceed at Bristol Crown Court on 17 December 2025.

The allegations point to a coordinated ring involving drugs and sexual abuse, though Sharif is not charged with drug supply. Police have emphasised the vulnerability of the victims, aged 14 to 17.
