Offence Summary

Peter Livingston Jones was convicted of multiple sexual offences including rape, administering drugs to facilitate intercourse, and kidnap against five vulnerable women, forcing them into prostitution through violence and manipulation.

Full Description

Peter Livingston Jones, aged 55 from Coventry, was found guilty at Warwick Crown Court of 11 serious charges involving five victims spanning from the 1990s until his arrest in 2018. The offences included three counts of rape, one count of administering drugs to obtain or facilitate intercourse, and one count of kidnap. Jones, along with his accomplice Raymond Dickens, targeted vulnerable young women in the Midlands, initially flattering them with gifts before escalating to sexual and physical violence, manipulation, and intimidation to control them and force them into prostitution for sexual gratification and financial gain.

Warwickshire Police launched Operation Costa following allegations from two victims, uncovering a pattern of abuse over several years. Detective Inspector Paul Thompson stated: "Over a number of years, Jones and Dickens have taken advantage of vulnerable young women for their own sexual gratification and financial gain. They preyed on vulnerable women. To start with they flattered them and brought them gifts but this attention soon turned to sexual and physical violence, manipulation and intimidation. All this was intended as a way to control them and force them into prostitution." Jones denied all charges but was convicted by a jury.

The case highlights the long-term exploitation by Jones and Dickens, who 'controlled' their victims as described by police. Jones resides on Wheelwright Lane in Coventry, Warwickshire. Sentencing for Jones and Dickens was scheduled for Friday following the trial, though specific details on the length of imprisonment were not provided in the immediate court reports. This conviction underscores the efforts of Warwickshire Police's major investigation unit in addressing historical sexual exploitation cases.
