Full Description

Angus Blackmore, a 61-year-old former deputy head teacher at Hamilton Academy and head teacher at Beechview School in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, has been permanently banned from the teaching profession following his conviction for serious child sex offences.

Blackmore was found guilty on 31 July 2023 at Aylesbury Crown Court of five child sex offences, including four counts of sexual assault on a female child under 13 and one count of sexual communication. The offences occurred between September 2015 and June 2018, during which time he exploited his position of authority to target two vulnerable pupils at the schools where he worked. According to a report by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA), Blackmore's actions were 'not only deliberate but also calculated', and he 'seriously exploited his position of trust' to abuse the young children entrusted to his care.

The TRA panel, in a misconduct hearing on 7 January 2025, described the misconduct as 'serious sexual misconduct' and noted that Blackmore showed a 'lack of remorse and insight' throughout his trial. He was sentenced to more than four years in prison in September 2023. Due to the gravity of the offences, the panel ruled that he is prohibited from teaching indefinitely in England and will never be permitted to apply to re-join the profession.

The case was investigated by Thames Valley Police, who highlighted the repeated nature of the assaults on vulnerable students. The TRA report emphasised that Blackmore's behaviour represented a profound betrayal of the trust placed in him as an educator.
