Offence Summary

Full Description

Paul Davies, a 45-year-old resident of Worcester, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for committing serious sexual offences against a child. The case, handled by West Mercia Police, culminated in a conviction at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, 8 August 2025.

Davies was found guilty on two counts of rape of a girl and two counts of assault of a girl by penetration. The court imposed an 18-year sentence for each rape conviction, to run concurrently, and an additional 15 years for each assault by penetration conviction, also concurrent. In total, this resulted in an effective 18-year custodial term. Furthermore, Davies was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, issued with a restraining order prohibiting contact with his victim, and required to pay a £120 victim surcharge. Three additional charges related to making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child were ordered to lie on file.

The offences involved the repeated sexual abuse of a young girl, causing significant harm. DC Harriet Adams-Evans, from the Protecting Vulnerable People team at West Mercia Police, commented on the case: "We are pleased to get this long sentence for Davies whose disgusting actions have had an awful impact upon his victim. This has brought some justice for the victim, and I would like to thank her for trusting the judicial process." The investigation was led by West Mercia Police, highlighting their commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals from sexual exploitation.

This sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences for those who perpetrate child sex offences. The court's decision underscores the gravity of such crimes and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to secure justice for victims.
