Offence Summary

Brutal rapist Tamer Eren targeted a vulnerable 36-year-old woman walking alone in Hull city centre, assaulting her on Drypool Bridge after lurking near pubs with Viagra.

Full Description

Tamer Eren, 42, of Great Thornton Street in Hull, a takeaway worker, was convicted of raping a vulnerable 36-year-old woman on Drypool Bridge on 19 September. He had been loitering near Hull city centre pubs and clubs in the early hours, armed with Viagra tablets, waiting for a victim. Eren denied the rape, claiming consensual sex and blackmail, but a jury at Hull Crown Court convicted him after a March trial. Sentenced to 10 years, he was branded a 'callous' and 'selfish' predator.

The court heard Eren followed the woman walking alone, dragging her to the bridge for the assault. His 'ludicrous and insulting' defence was rejected, with evidence showing force and non-consent.

  • Eren prepared with Viagra for opportunistic rape.
  • The victim was targeted for vulnerability.
  • Sentence adjourned for dangerousness assessment.

Hull Live reported on 11 June 2022, quoting the judge on Eren's predatory intent. Prosecutor detailed the pursuit and attack, emphasising street safety risks. The conviction delivers justice, with Eren's extended term protecting women from such sexual violence.
