Offence Summary

Lannee Ksigwa raped a 12-year-old girl on two occasions when he was 17, contributing to the severe abuse that destroyed her life.

Full Description

Two brothers, Patrick Leonard and Lannee Ksigwa, have been imprisoned for their depraved sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in Bradford, which profoundly impacted her life. The case, heard at Bradford Crown Court, exposed the brothers as dangerous sexual predators who exploited the young victim for their own gratification.

Lannee Ksigwa, now 19 and from Grosvenor Terrace in Bradford, was 17 at the time of his offences. He was found guilty by a jury of two counts of rape against the 12-year-old victim. The abuse formed part of a broader pattern of exploitation by the brothers, resulting in severe psychological and physical harm to the girl, as noted by Judge Andrew Hatton, who held both equally responsible.

Ksigwa was sentenced to 12 years' detention in a young offenders institution. He must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before any potential release. Like his brother, Ksigwa is required to register as a sex offender for life and is subject to an indefinite restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim or others involved in the case.

The victim's impact statement, played in court by prosecutor Chloe Hudson, detailed the lasting trauma: she described feeling broken and traumatised, with her innocence stolen by the brothers, whom she urged to feel ashamed. Detective Inspector Simon Howroyd of West Yorkshire Police's Bradford District Child Safeguarding Unit praised the victim's bravery in navigating the judicial system and emphasised that the brothers deserved long-term incarceration for destroying her life. The police force takes all reports of sexual offending seriously, treating victims with sensitivity.

This shocking case, reported by Manchester Evening News and Yorkshire Live, underscores the severe psychological and physical harm inflicted by the brothers, who were deemed equally responsible by the judge.
