Offence Summary

Terry Park was convicted of raping a girl under 16 and four counts of sexual assault by penetration following a nine-day trial. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison for these child sexual offences.

Full Description

Terry Park, a 30-year-old man from Basildon, Essex, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of serious child sexual offences at Southend Crown Court.

The trial, which lasted nine days in October 2025, saw Park, who is also known locally as Tye O’Shea and had no fixed address at the time, deny the charges against him. Despite his denials, the jury convicted him on one count of rape of a girl under 16 and four counts of sexual assault by penetration. These offences involved the sexual abuse of a child, highlighting the gravity of his actions against a vulnerable victim.

Following the conviction, Judge [name not specified in article] imposed a custodial sentence of 12 years, with an additional four years on extended licence to manage his risk to the public upon release. Park was also made subject to a lifetime restraining order to protect the survivor, required to register on the sex offenders’ register for life, and issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to restrict his future behaviour and associations.

Detective Constable Aaron Aujia, the investigating officer from Essex Police, commented on the sentencing: "Today’s sentence shows the seriousness of Park’s offending. He showed no signs of remorse, and it is right that he serves a lengthy prison term for his abhorrent crimes." Aujia further emphasised the commitment of Essex Police to investigating such cases, stating that violent and sexual offences against children would not be tolerated in the county.

The case was prosecuted under the jurisdiction of Essex Police, with support provided to the survivor and her family by an advisor from Synergy Essex throughout the proceedings. The conviction and sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to safeguard children from sexual exploitation in the United Kingdom.
