Full Description

Ross Corley, aged 30, received a 28-month prison sentence for his part in the Blackrod grooming gang, which sexually exploited underage girls in Bolton between 2016 and 2018. Convicted of two counts of sexual activity with a child, Corley's actions were part of a coordinated effort by a group of men investigated by Greater Manchester Police after victims reported following a June 2018 incident.

The gang, including primary offender Ashley Darbyshire, groomed victims through social media, private messages, and local hangouts, supplying alcohol and drugs while sending indecent images. Offences frequently occurred at a degraded property in Blackrod used by the group for drug use and parties. Corley's involvement contributed to the over 30 sexual offence convictions secured against the group.

At Liverpool Crown Court on 28 April 2025, Corley was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years. The case details the predatory behaviour of the men, many of whom showed no remorse. As per Detective Inspector Samantha Parry: 'I hope that these sentences will bring you some comfort as you try to carry on with your lives.' This prosecution underscores efforts to protect vulnerable teenagers from exploitation.
