Full Description

Two paedophiles from Weymouth, Kenneth James Rogers and Michael John Rogers, have been jailed for a combined total of more than 35 years following horrific sexual attacks on young girls over several decades. The case, investigated by Dorset Police, highlights the bravery of the victims who came forward to report historic offences.

Kenneth James Rogers, aged 59 and from Weymouth, pleaded guilty to seven counts of rape of a child under the age of 16, one count of rape of a child under the age of 13, indecent assault, assault of a child under the age of 13, and possession of indecent images of a child. His offending spanned from the 1980s to the 2000s, involving three different victims. Rogers was arrested on 6 February 2020 and admitted during interview to sexually touching his victims. He was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on 8 February 2022 to 27 years in prison.

  • Offences committed over three decades (1980s-2000s)
  • Three victims affected
  • Guilty plea entered prior to sentencing

Detective Constable Stuart Beasley of Dorset Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Team praised the victims, stating: “I would like to praise the four victims in this case for their bravery when coming forward to report what happened to them to police. They have all showed great courage while supporting the investigation and helping to ensure that both defendants were jailed for their terrible actions.” The investigation began in January 2020 after two victims disclosed the abuse to police, leading to the arrests and subsequent trial.

This case underscores the long-term impact of child sexual abuse and the importance of reporting such crimes, as per statements from Dorset Police. The sentencing brings some measure of justice to the victims after years of suffering in silence.
