Offence Summary

Rory Macaleece, a hotel manager, conducted a five-year campaign of violent and degrading abuse, including raping two women and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, while using threats of MI5 connections to silence his victims.

Full Description

Rory Macaleece, a 48-year-old hotel manager, has been convicted of multiple serious sexual offences following a prolonged campaign of abuse against several women and a young girl. The case, heard at the High Court in Glasgow, revealed a pattern of violent, controlling, and sexually abusive behaviour spanning five years. Macaleece was found guilty of eight charges, including rape, stalking, domestic abuse, and sexual assault involving four victims, all of whom remain anonymous for legal reasons.

One of Macaleece's ex-partners bravely shared her harrowing experience with The Mail on Sunday, detailing how the 'controlling bully' subjected her to physical and emotional torment after they met in 2018. She described how his aggressive nature quickly emerged, leading to incidents such as punching her to the ground and exerting strict control over her diet and clothing choices, repeatedly calling her 'fat'. The abuse escalated to rape, with the victim recalling a specific instance where Macaleece assaulted her despite her pleas for him to stop. After their split, when confronted, he callously admitted, 'Yes I did. I was upset because you were pushing me away.' He further manipulated her by lying about having cancer and being terminally ill, all while deceiving her about other relationships.

Macaleece's depravity extended beyond adult victims; he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl as part of his broader pattern of offending, which also included raping another woman. To intimidate his victims into silence, he falsely claimed connections to MI5 and dangerous government figures, threatening that disclosure would lead to their harm or death. One victim recounted, 'He told me his dad was part of MI5 and he has friends in the Government who were dangerous. He threatened that if I told anybody about what he did [to me], I wouldn't live. He had already demonstrated he had no problem hurting me.'

The victims' courage in reporting Macaleece to the police led to his arrest and conviction last month. Despite his manipulative tactics, including promises of retaliation, he is now behind bars awaiting sentencing. The ex-partner hopes her story will encourage other potential victims to come forward, noting she had already received a message from someone assaulted by him in 2006. 'I've no doubt there are more women out there that he's done this to. I'm speaking out so others might feel safe enough to come forward,' she said. This case underscores the severe impact of serial sexual abuse and the importance of victim testimonies in securing justice.
