Full Description

Jenna Ball, aged 37 from Sutton Road in Kidderminster, has received a two-year suspended sentence for her involvement in child sexual offences alongside Gavin Sloan. Ball was charged with three counts of arranging child sex offences, causing a child to commit a sexual act, and possession of indecent images of children, as uncovered during a West Mercia Police investigation into Sloan's activities from 2013 to 2021.

The probe initiated in May 2021 with a search of Sloan's residence in Minsterley near Shrewsbury, where officers found a trove of indecent videos, including those showing Sloan's assaults. This led to Ball's arrest, exposing her role in orchestrating and supporting the abuse, as well as holding prohibited material. Her actions facilitated the exploitation, making her a key enabler in the criminal enterprise that targeted young and vulnerable victims.

Sentencing occurred on 12 May 2022 at Shrewsbury Crown Court, where Ball, along with Sloan and Louise Smith, faced justice after pleading guilty. While Ball avoided immediate custody due to the suspended nature of her sentence, the court emphasised the gravity of her contributions to the offences. Detective Inspector Jo Delahay remarked on the sentences, stating, 'We also welcome the sentences handed to Ball and Smith for their part in assisting Sloan.' The decision balances punishment with rehabilitation considerations, though the impact on victims remains irreversible.

West Mercia Police's diligent work in connecting the dots between the accomplices demonstrates effective law enforcement against child sex abuse rings. Ball's case illustrates how peripheral participants can be equally culpable, reinforcing the message that all involved will be held accountable. The sentencing provides a benchmark for similar cases, prioritising victim protection and offender deterrence.
