Offence Summary

A Sandwich man who raped a woman and possessed indecent images of children after a 25-minute video of the assault was discovered on an old mobile phone.

Full Description

Warren Conn, 50, was jailed for 14 years at Canterbury Crown Court after admitting 15 sexual offences, including rape and possession of indecent images of children. The investigation began in January 2026 when a woman discovered a 25-minute video on an old mobile phone showing Conn sexually assaulting her several years earlier, without her consent or knowledge of the recording.

Following a digital forensic examination by Kent Police, further videos were found that indicated Conn had raped her. He was arrested by the Police Service of Northern Ireland at his home in County Armagh and later handed over to Kent Police in Belfast. Searches of his home uncovered two mobile phones and a laptop containing a large quantity of indecent images of children.

Conn, formerly of Kings Park Mews, Lurgan, pleaded guilty to all charges after three interviews. Detective Constable Joe Warner praised the victim's courage, stating: “This case shows that no matter how much time has passed, victims can still come forward, and they will be taken seriously.”

The offences occurred while Conn was living in Sandwich, Kent, but he later moved to Northern Ireland. The court heard how the victim had no memory of the assault being filmed and had never consented. Conn was remanded in custody before sentencing.
