Full Description

Mohammed Mutasir, a 48-year-old man from Birmingham, was jailed for seven years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage girl. The offences occurred in April 2022, when Mutasir groomed the 15-year-old victim from Redditch through messages on social media.

The court at Worcester Crown Court heard that following numerous exchanges, Mutasir arranged to meet the girl and picked her up in his car, where he supplied her with cocaine, a class A drug. Under the influence of alcohol and drugs, he engaged in penetrative sexual activity with her in a car park in Birmingham. This pattern repeated on further occasions, with Mutasir supplying drugs to the victim before sexually assaulting her again.

Mutasir was charged with four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child and two counts of supplying class A drugs. After a seven-day trial, he was found guilty in November 2024. The sentencing took place at the same court, resulting in a seven-year custodial sentence.

Detective Constable Julia Proctor from the child exploitation team in North Worcestershire described Mutasir's actions as 'abhorrent', stating: 'He exploited his victim, building her trust by grooming her on social media before arranging to meet her and drugging her for his own sexual gain.' She emphasised the bravery of the victim and the seriousness with which West Mercia Police treat such reports.

The case was reported by the Redditch Advertiser, highlighting the ongoing efforts to prosecute offenders in child sexual exploitation cases within the West Midlands region.
