Offence Summary

Suresh Bhudia, a paedophile from Rainham, was caught sending sexual messages to a decoy posing as a 13-year-old girl in 2022, leading to a conviction and a sexual harm prevention order; he breached this order by messaging a 16-year-old girl on a banned app.

Full Description

Suresh Bhudia, a 39-year-old resident of Simpson Road in Rainham, Essex, has been identified as a paedophile who engaged in online grooming activities targeting underage girls. In August 2022, Bhudia initiated contact with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl through messaging apps. Over several weeks, he sent explicit messages discussing sexual activity and providing instructions on how to perform sex acts, demonstrating clear intent to cause a child to engage in sexual behaviour.

Fortunately, the 'girl' was not a real minor but a decoy account operated as part of an undercover operation to catch online predators. Court records from Snaresbrook Crown Court detail how Bhudia's communications were uncovered, leading to his arrest. He pleaded guilty to attempting to cause a child aged 13 or over to engage in sexual activity. Last August, he was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court, receiving a formal custodial sentence—though the exact length is not specified in available reports—and a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO). This order explicitly prohibited him from using online communication applications to contact young girls, aiming to prevent further offences.

Despite this, Bhudia reoffended shortly after. On August 17, 2023, he appeared at Barkingside Magistrates' Court charged with two breaches of his SHPO. Investigations revealed he had used a banned app to message a 16-year-old girl, violating the conditions imposed to protect vulnerable minors. Bhudia again pleaded guilty to these breaches. The court remanded him in custody pending sentencing at Snaresbrook Crown Court at a later date. This case, reported by the Romford Recorder and based on court proceedings, underscores the challenges in rehabilitating sex offenders and the effectiveness of decoy operations by law enforcement in safeguarding children from online exploitation.

Metropolitan Police, responsible for the area, conducted the investigations leading to both arrests, highlighting their role in tackling child sex offences in Greater London. No further details on the decoy operations or the exact nature of the second messaging exchange were disclosed in court summaries, but the guilty pleas confirm the sexual nature of the communications.
