A 35-year-old man from Droitwich, Worcestershire, has been sentenced for possessing and making indecent images of children, following an investigation by West Mercia Police. Kirt Tabberer, of Little Hill, Droitwich, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on 11 August 2025, where he pleaded guilty to several charges related to child sexual abuse material and extreme pornography.
The case began in 2019 when officers received reports that Tabberer had uploaded a category C indecent image of a child to a Snapchat account. Enquiries by south Worcestershire CID officers linked the account to Tabberer, leading to his arrest on suspicion of possession and distribution of indecent images. During the arrest, electronic devices, including a mobile phone containing extreme pornography, were seized, resulting in an additional arrest for possession of extreme pornographic images.
Initially, Tabberer denied the allegations, claiming his device had been hacked. However, digital forensic analysis by West Mercia Police's Digital Forensic Team disproved his claims, revealing substantial evidence of his involvement. This evidence was presented during two separate interviews, compelling Tabberer to change his plea to guilty ahead of a scheduled trial.
Count one: Making 62 category A indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child – three-year community order Count two: Making 35 category B indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child – three-year community order (concurrent) Count three: Making three category C indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child – three-year community order (concurrent) Count four: Possession of two extreme pornographic images – three-year community order (concurrent) Count five: Possession of prohibited pornographic images of children – three-year community order (concurrent) In addition to the community order, Tabberer was required to register as a sex offender for five years, subjected to a three-month electronically tagged curfew, and issued with a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He was also ordered to pay £1,200 in costs, a £85 victim surcharge, and his electronic devices were forfeited.
DC David Wood, who led the investigation for West Mercia Police, commented: “This sentence has arisen from the excellent work by our Digital Forensic Team who counteracted Tabberer’s lies and presented strong evidence that led to his change in plea. Whilst he tried to deny responsibility for his crimes, our digital investigators exposed the horrific material as they deconstructed his claims made in two separate interviews. Their professionalism and dedication not only to this job but all the others like it are a testament to their focus in protecting our communities.” The sentencing reflects the severity of offences involving child exploitation material, with West Mercia Police emphasising their commitment to tackling such crimes through robust digital investigations.
