Full Description

A former gym instructor from Burton has been imprisoned for raping a woman on three separate occasions. Braden Rae, aged 44 and now residing in Derbyshire, admitted to three counts of rape at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The offences occurred in Burton, with two instances taking place in 2014 and the third in 2015. The victim confided in a friend about the assaults before reporting the matter to the police. Rae, who had worked as a gym instructor in the area, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing, leading to his sentencing on 11 June 2020.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Rae's actions had a profound impact on his victim. Detective Constable Amy Gathergood from Staffordshire Police commended the victim's bravery in coming forward, stating, 'The bravery of the witness in coming forward to the police has led to Braden Rae's jail term.' She emphasised the police's commitment to pursuing justice for victims of sexual abuse.

Rae, of Lace Maker's Close in Borrowash, Derbyshire, was jailed for eight years. The case was handled by Staffordshire Police, highlighting their dedication to supporting victims and holding perpetrators accountable.
