Full Description

A man from Chesterfield has been sentenced to imprisonment following his conviction for engaging in sexual communication and activity with an underage girl. Kaylam Prince, aged 28, was arrested in July 2024 after authorities uncovered a series of explicit messages he had sent to the victim, a teenage girl below the age of consent.

The messages included requests for the victim to send naked images of herself, and Prince subsequently began a sexual relationship with her. Initially denying the charges, Prince later pleaded guilty to one count of sexual communication with a child and two counts of sexual activity with a child. The case was heard at Derby Crown Court on Friday, 29 August 2025, where he was sentenced to 28 months' imprisonment.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Prince was issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricts his internet usage and access to children under the age of 16 for a period of five years. A restraining order was also granted to protect the victim specifically, remaining in effect for the same duration.

PC Eloise Cooper, the officer in the case from Derbyshire Constabulary, commented on the conviction: 'Kaylam Prince knowingly began a sexual relationship with a child who was well below the age of consent. He encouraged her to send sexual images of herself and incited her into engaging in sexual activity.' She further praised the victim's courage: 'Throughout this case the victim, who is still a young girl, has shown real courage when speaking with officers and has provided key evidence which has helped to secure this conviction. Her family have also been extremely supportive of the investigation and have ensured that we have been able to do everything in our power to ensure that Kaylam Prince is brought to justice.'

The investigation was conducted by Derbyshire Constabulary, highlighting their commitment to protecting vulnerable children from sexual exploitation. Prince, residing at Gloucester Road, Stonegravels, was remanded in custody following his arrest and charge.
