Offence Summary

Brokim, with Gaitis Dukovskis, kidnapped an intoxicated woman from a Ramsgate bar intending sexual violence, but she fought them off and escaped to call police.

Full Description

Marek Brokim, 46, from Ash near Canterbury, collaborated with Gaitis Dukovskis in the kidnapping of a heavily drunk woman from Clique Bar in Ramsgate, dragging her to a nearby house with the clear intent to commit a sexual offence. The victim, vulnerable and semi-conscious, was forcibly removed from the bar in the early hours, highlighting the men's predatory and disrespectful attitudes towards women.

At the property in Kent Terrace, the woman regained awareness to discover her trousers undone, prompting her to resist fiercely, push the attackers away, and flee after dialling 999. She hid behind a vehicle, desperately seeking police assistance, which was facilitated by the What3Words location app. Officers arrested Brokim and Dukovskis at the scene, where both were under the influence and offered feeble excuses of a 'misunderstanding'.

Canterbury Crown Court rejected their denials of kidnap and sexual intent, convicting them on 11-1 jury majorities. Judge Heather Norton sentenced Brokim to four years' custody, noting his absence of remorse, and required 10 years on the sex offender register post-release. The victim's statement revealed the lifelong trauma from the 'horror of that night'.

The Kent Police probe exposed the duo's callous actions, with the sentencing serving as a stark warning. KentOnline's coverage detailed the court's condemnation, reinforcing efforts to combat sexual violence in public settings.
