Offence Summary

Barry Gooderham groomed and encouraged teenage girls to perform sex acts and send indecent photos via chat logs from 2014. He was sentenced to six years in prison.

Full Description

Barry Gooderham, formerly of Hawks Hill, Essex, was sentenced to six years in prison in May 2017 after admitting three charges of attempting to cause a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity. Police raided his home on December 1, 2015, uncovering chat logs from January 2014 where he coerced purported teenage girls into performing sex acts and sending indecent photographs.

Among the material was a video and stills of a 13-year-old that Gooderham had filmed and distributed to three other men. At Chelmsford Crown Court, Judge Emma Peters described the chat logs as 'utterly disgusting, repugnant, vile things to read', underscoring their depravity.

The investigation by Essex Police revealed Gooderham's systematic online grooming, targeting vulnerable minors for exploitation and distribution within paedophile networks.
