Offence Summary

Bruce Clark, a 77-year-old pensioner from Limekilns, pleaded guilty to five voyeurism offences after using his mobile phone to secretly film the bottoms and underwear of six teenage girls aged 14 to 16 in a Tesco store in Dunfermline.

Full Description

A 77-year-old pensioner from Limekilns, Fife, has been placed on the sex offenders register following his guilty plea to multiple voyeurism charges involving teenage girls at a local supermarket.

Bruce Clark appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on a date in late 2023, where he admitted to five counts of voyeurism under Section 9 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009. The offences occurred on 5 November 2023 at the Tesco store on Winterthur Lane in Dunfermline. Clark used his mobile phone to operate recording equipment beneath the clothing of six victims, all aged between 14 and 16, with the intention of capturing videos of their genitals, buttocks, or underwear without their knowledge. One charge involved two girls, making a total of six victims in a single day.

According to court documents reported by The Courier, Clark positioned the device to enable observation or recording for his own purposes. The court heard that the victims were unaware of the invasive acts at the time. Defence lawyer Alexander Flett noted that Clark, who is married and lives with his wife, had been subject to undertaking conditions prohibiting him from possessing devices capable of audio or visual recording in public spaces.

Originally, Clark faced two additional charges of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by following and videoing three other unidentified females at the same Tesco on 24 October and 4 November 2023. These included allegations of filming two females in school uniform and a lone customer. Prosecutors accepted not guilty pleas to these charges.

Sheriff Susan Duff deferred sentencing until 15 January 2024 to allow for background reports and granted bail with a special condition barring Clark from carrying any mobile or electronic device capable of recording in public. At the next hearing, the duration of his registration on the sex offenders register will be determined, along with the full sentence. A detailed narrative of the events is anticipated at that time.
