Full Description

A Keswick man, Keith Taylor, has been jailed for six years following a police investigation into non-recent child sex abuse committed in the 1970s. Taylor, aged 66 and residing on Crow Park Road, was sentenced on 5 November 2025 at Carlisle Crown Court for offences against two school-age boys that occurred between 1974 and 1979.

The investigation by Cumbria Constabulary was initiated after two individuals came forward to report the abuse they had suffered as children. Taylor faced charges including two counts of indecent assault on a boy, one act of gross indecency with a boy, and one serious sexual offence against a boy. Initially, Taylor denied all charges. However, in April 2025, he pleaded guilty to the offences committed against one of the victims. For the crimes against the second victim, the case proceeded to trial in August 2025, where a jury found him guilty.

Detective Constable Kerry Moynan, who led the investigation, commended the bravery of the victims in coming forward. 'Keith Taylor initially denied all offences and continued his denial of the offences committed against the younger of the two victims, leading to a trial where a jury has found him guilty,' she stated. 'Taylor’s actions were despicable, he knew what he had done was wrong and he has now been brought to justice.' The case underscores Cumbria Constabulary's commitment to thoroughly investigating historical sexual offences against children, ensuring those responsible are held accountable.

The offences took place over several years in the Keswick area, targeting vulnerable school-age boys. Taylor's guilty pleas and subsequent conviction highlight the long-term impact of such abuse and the importance of reporting non-recent crimes. This sentencing serves as a reminder that justice can be pursued even decades after the events.
