Offence Summary

Oliver Maddocks, a dangerous sexual predator from Derbyshire, subjected a woman to two rapes, a sexual assault, and voyeurism offences over the 2010s and 2020s, leading to his conviction and 12-year imprisonment.

Full Description

Oliver Maddocks, a 39-year-old man formerly residing in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, was convicted and sentenced for a series of serious sexual offences committed against a woman during the 2010s and 2020s. The case, which spanned nearly three years of investigation, highlighted the victim's remarkable courage in pursuing justice against a dangerous predator.

The offences included two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of voyeurism. These acts were carried out over an extended period, demonstrating a pattern of predatory behaviour. In addition to the sexual crimes, Maddocks was found in possession of cocaine and cannabis, further compounding his legal troubles.

During police interviews following his arrest, Maddocks initially denied raping the victim but then refused to answer further questions, providing no cooperation. He pleaded not guilty to all charges, forcing the victim to testify at Chesterfield Crown Court, where the case was heard after initial proceedings at Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court. The jury convicted him on all counts, leading to his sentencing on 13 March 2026.

  • Two counts of rape
  • One count of sexual assault
  • One count of voyeurism
  • One count of possession of cocaine
  • One count of possession of cannabis

At the sentencing hearing, Judge [name not specified] imposed a 12-year custodial sentence on Maddocks. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and received a restraining order to protect the victim. Furthermore, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was issued, requiring Maddocks to notify police of any intimate or sexual relationships, declare ownership of electronic devices, and surrender them for examination upon request.

PC Steven Sanderson, who led the investigation alongside PC Kate Bradbury for Derbyshire Constabulary, praised the victim's tenacity. “The victim’s decision to support the police and see this to the end demonstrates an exceptional level of courage,” Sanderson stated. “To stand up, speak out, and go before the court... reflects her tenacity and determination to ensure that Maddocks was brought to justice and cannot hurt others.”

PC Bradbury echoed these sentiments, describing Maddocks as a dangerous sexual predator who I have no doubt would have continued to offend. She noted that the sentence provides immediate safety for the victim and the public, with strict post-release conditions to maintain public protection. The case was reported by the Derbyshire Times on 13 March 2026, underscoring the importance of victim support in bringing perpetrators to justice.
