Offence Summary

Ryan Lockwood admitted to multiple serious sexual offences against children, including sexual activity with minors and making indecent photographs, leading to his classification as a dangerous offender.

Full Description

Ryan Lockwood, a 23-year-old man from Gretton, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court earlier in January 2026 for committing 11 serious sexual offences against children during 2024 and 2025. He admitted to two counts of sexual activity with a child, three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, and two counts of taking indecent photographs of a child.

Lockwood, residing at Hunts Field Drive in Gretton, was employed at Gretton House, a residential home for adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome, until his arrest. However, authorities confirmed that none of the victims were residents or connected to the home. A spokeswoman for Gretton House stated: "We can confirm that we carried out all appropriate safeguarding and recruitment protocols, including running enhanced DBS checks and notifying relevant authorities, based on the information we held at the time. No concerns were raised with us by the authorities in 2024. We are confident that no one supported by our service was impacted and we cooperated fully with the relevant authorities throughout their investigation. The health and safety of the people we support is our absolute priority."

In addition to the admitted charges, four other counts—which Lockwood had denied—involving causing a child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to watch a sexual act, and sexual communication with a child, were left to lie on file. This decision was made by the judge, who deemed it not in the public interest to proceed to trial on these, given the admissions to more serious offences. These counts could potentially be prosecuted later with the trial judge's permission.

Described as a 'dangerous' offender, Lockwood received an extended sentence comprising a nine-year custodial term, of which he must serve two-thirds before eligibility for parole. A parole board will assess whether he no longer poses a risk to the public prior to any release. He was also subjected to a four-year extended licence period in the community, during which he will be monitored by the probation service. Further measures include an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, lifelong registration on the sex offenders' register, forfeiture of all electronic devices, and a ban from working with vulnerable people.

Leicestershire Police investigated the case but were unable to release a custody photograph of Lockwood. The sentencing reflects the severity of his crimes, aimed at protecting the public from individuals deemed to pose significant risk of harm.
