Christopher Wayne Booth, a former teacher, was jailed for five years with an extended three-year licence for grooming and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and possessing indecent images.

Full Description

Christopher Wayne Booth, 59, a former teacher at the Groves in Wrexham, has received an extended eight-year sentence—five years in prison plus three on licence—for grooming and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl between November 2017 and January 2018, while also possessing thousands of pornographic images of young children. This offence breached a 2015 sexual harm prevention order from Mold Crown Court, following three prior jail terms for child sex offences.

At Mold Crown Court, details emerged of Booth sending texts, picking up the victim in his car, inviting her home, complimenting her, and touching her leg. The order had banned him from contacting children under 16, possessing photos of youngsters, and internet access. The victim reported feeling hopeless and paranoid as a result.

North Wales Police's investigation led to Booth's arrest, reinforcing protections against repeat sexual offenders through extended sentencing.
