Offence Summary

Arranged and participated in the gang rape of a woman at his home in Leeds, for which he was sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Full Description

Cleveland Wyatt, aged 62, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court to 21 years' imprisonment after being found guilty of multiple counts of rape and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

The court heard that in September or October 2022, Wyatt arranged for ten men to attend his home in Leeds, where they subjected a woman to a prolonged and degrading gang rape. Wyatt had previously raped the woman on multiple occasions and had supplied her and her partner with crack cocaine to facilitate his offending.

During the incident, the woman was forced to wear a ball gag, made to urinate in a bucket, and verbally abused by the men, who referred to her using derogatory terms. She was given crack cocaine by Wyatt and the assault continued until approximately 5am. After the attack, the men threw money at the woman, which Wyatt collected while congratulating her on earning "good money."

Prosecutor Nick Adlington told the court that the woman had made it clear she did not consent and cried throughout the ordeal. In her victim personal statement, she described the lasting emotional and physical effects of the abuse, including loss of bladder control.

Following a trial, Wyatt was convicted of one count of rape relating to a single occasion, one count of rape relating to multiple incidents, and two counts of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. West Yorkshire Police confirmed that the ten other men involved have not been identified despite extensive enquiries.
