Offence Summary

Kai Edwards was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting three young girls in Hull and sentenced to seven years in prison, placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Full Description

Kai Edwards, an 18-year-old from Hessle, was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment at Hull Crown Court on 17 April 2026, following his conviction for three counts of rape and sexual assault by penetration. The offences involved three young girls and were described by investigators as the actions of a 'sexual predator'. Edwards was found guilty after a trial that concluded on 13 February 2026.

The investigation began in April 2022 after a girl reported that Edwards had raped her at a property in Hull. According to the report, Edwards had repeatedly asked her to engage in sexual activity, which she refused. Later that night, she awoke to find him engaging in sexual intercourse with her without consent. He was immediately asked to leave the property. Humberside Police's Protecting Vulnerable People Unit launched an investigation into the incident.

  • A few weeks later, officers received a third-party report about a second young girl who disclosed that she had been subjected to multiple instances of non-recent rape by Edwards during their relationship.

In March 2023, while enquiries continued, a school raised concerns about a third young girl, who reported being sexually assaulted and raped by Edwards. She stated that he had visited her address, touched her sexually despite her repeated requests to stop, and then orally raped her before leaving.

As the case developed, officers gathered comprehensive evidence against Edwards. He was voluntarily interviewed and subsequently summonsed to court. Detective Constable Lisa Grantham, who led the investigation, commended the bravery of the victims, stating: 'This was a lengthy and complex investigation, and I would like to commend the bravery of all three girls for assisting with our enquiries as we stacked up the evidence against a sexual predator like Edwards.'

The sentencing on 17 April 2026 resulted in Edwards being placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, highlighting the severity of his crimes. The case underscores Humberside Police's commitment to pursuing justice in sexual offence reports, both recent and non-recent.
