Offence Summary

Daniel James Flatters engaged in sexual activity with underage girls as part of a grooming and exploitation ring in Greater Manchester.

Full Description

Daniel James Flatters, 34, from Bolton, was part of a group of ten men sentenced for the grooming and sexual exploitation of girls under 16 in Greater Manchester. The men, including Flatters, targeted young girls from their community, using manipulative behaviours to coerce them into sexual acts. Flatters participated in sexual activity with children, contributing to the network's pattern of abuse that disregarded the victims' age and consent.

The case involved a range of exploitative tactics, with the group satisfying their desires through repeated abuse of the same victims. The offences were exposed when one girl disclosed her experiences, leading to arrests and prosecutions. At Liverpool Crown Court, Flatters received a seven-year custodial sentence for four counts of sexual activity with a child, alongside supplying cocaine and aggravated vehicle taking. Gill Petrovic, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, condemned the 'manipulative and appalling' grooming, noting the profound impact on the victims' lives. Impact statements from the girls detailed ongoing emotional trauma, emphasising the lasting harm caused by such exploitation. This sentencing, as detailed in the CPS press release of 29 April 2025, reflects efforts to deliver justice for child sexual abuse victims.
