Offence Summary

Scott Buxton was convicted of raping a woman, attempting to rape her, making threats to kill her, and threatening to damage or destroy her property in Chester. He was found guilty following an eight-day trial at Chester Crown Court.

Full Description

Scott Buxton, a 32-year-old man of no fixed abode, was convicted at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, of multiple serious offences including rape, attempted rape, threats to kill, and threats to damage or destroy property. The conviction came after an intensive eight-day trial where the jury rejected Buxton's denials and found him guilty based on the evidence presented.

The offences occurred in May 2025, when Buxton subjected a woman to a violent sexual assault, raping her and attempting to rape her again. During the incident, he made explicit threats to kill the victim and to 'blow up her car', instilling significant fear and trauma. The victim, demonstrating remarkable courage, promptly contacted Cheshire Police to report the crimes. Buxton was arrested shortly thereafter and interviewed in relation to the allegations. Following a thorough investigation, he was formally charged with the offences.

Detective Constable Max Jones of Cheshire Police commended the victim's bravery in coming forward, stating: 'Firstly, I would like to thank the victim in this case for her bravery in talking to police about what happened to her, especially after Buxton failed to take responsibility for his crimes and put her through the stress of a trial. But thankfully the jury saw through his lies, and he has now been found guilty of a number of serious offences. No-one should ever have to experience what this victim went through.' The detective emphasised the police's commitment to investigating such reports thoroughly, with the victim's needs as the priority.

Sentencing for Buxton is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Chester Crown Court. The case, reported by the Chester Standard and sourced from Cheshire Police, highlights the ongoing efforts to hold perpetrators of sexual violence accountable in the United Kingdom.
