Offence Summary

Mustafa Musa sexually assaulted and raped a woman in Crewe after she woke up to find him assaulting her, ignoring her screams and pleas to stop.

Full Description

Mustafa Musa, a 23-year-old man from Hartshill in Stoke-on-Trent, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the rape and sexual assault of a woman in Crewe. The incident occurred one night when the victim awoke to discover Musa sexually assaulting her. Despite her desperate shouts for him to stop, Musa proceeded to rape her, showing complete disregard for her distress.

The attack took place in Crewe, prompting an immediate response from Cheshire Police. Following a thorough investigation, Musa was charged and stood trial at Chester Crown Court. He was convicted on separate counts of rape and sexual assault after the jury saw through his lies during the proceedings. A police spokesman from Cheshire Police commended the victim's bravery, stating: "I would like to commend the victim for the courage she has shown throughout this case. Musa lied his way through this investigation and subsequent trial, showing absolutely no remorse for the ordeal he put the victim through. But thanks to the victim’s bravery and the evidence we gathered, the jury was able to see through his lies and he is now finally being held accountable for his actions."

In addition to the eight-year custodial sentence, Musa has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for the remainder of his life. The case, reported by Stoke-on-Trent Live on 8 March 2024, highlights the severity of sexual offences and the importance of victim testimony in securing justice. Cheshire Police emphasised their commitment to supporting victims, noting that such cases encourage others to come forward.
