Offence Summary

Daniel Allcock, a 27-year-old man from Crewe, groomed a 15-year-old girl online by lying about his age and engaged in repeated sexual activity with her, leading to his imprisonment.

Full Description

A South Cheshire man, Daniel Allcock (also known as Daniel Smith), has been sentenced to six years in prison for committing multiple sex offences against a 15-year-old girl. The 27-year-old from Crewe appeared at Chester Crown Court on 28 June 2024, where he pleaded guilty to charges including causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to watch a sexual act, and sexual activity with a child.

The offences occurred between December 2023 and April 2024. Allcock initially contacted the victim, who was 14 at the start of their communication, via social media. He falsely presented himself as a 19-year-old to gain her trust, despite her confirming her age to him. Over time, he groomed her, arranging multiple meetings and even organising her travel to facilitate these encounters. During these meetings, Allcock engaged in sexual activity with the underage girl on several occasions.

Concerns about the relationship were raised by the victim's school and social services, prompting them to alert Cheshire Police. Upon investigation, officers discovered that Allcock had a prior history of sexual offences and was significantly older than he claimed. He was arrested on 18 April 2024, charged, and remanded in custody. Safeguarding measures were immediately implemented to support the young victim.

In addition to his six-year custodial sentence, Allcock will serve four years on extended licence. He has been placed on the sex offenders' register for life and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order, as well as a restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim. The sentencing was reported by Nantwich News, highlighting the calculated nature of Allcock's actions.

Following the hearing, Detective Constable Kieran Marsh of Cheshire Police commended the victim's bravery in reporting the abuse. 'This young girl’s world was turned upside down by a calculated and callous offender, driven purely by his own sexual desires, with no regard for the severe and lasting effects his actions would have on his victim,' Marsh stated. He emphasised the role of forensic, witness, and digital evidence in securing the guilty plea and reassured the public that reports of sexual offences are treated with utmost seriousness.
