Full Description

A paedophile who subjected a young girl to repeated sexual abuse has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following a conviction at Peterborough Crown Court. Greg Kedienhon, aged 27 and of no fixed address, carried out the offences while temporarily staying at a house in Cambridge. The abuse, which included rape and sexual assaults, began when the victim was just seven years old and continued for two years.

The case came to light in October 2015 after an anonymous call was made to social services, alerting authorities to the girl's disclosures of the abuse. It was not until a year later, in 2016, that the victim felt ready to reveal the full extent of what had happened, prompting a formal investigation by Cambridgeshire Police. Detective Constable Andrea Dollard, who led the investigation, highlighted the profound impact of Kedienhon's actions on the victim, stating: 'Kedienhon's offences have had a huge impact on the victim. Despite this, she was very brave in coming forwards and remaining patient throughout a long and difficult investigation.' Dollard further noted that the victim could now receive the necessary support to move forward, expressing hope for closure after this traumatic period.

Kedienhon was arrested in early 2017 but denied all allegations against him. He stood trial at Peterborough Crown Court starting on 11 December, where a jury found him guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault. On 4 February, he was sentenced to a total of 15 years' imprisonment. In addition to the custodial sentence, Kedienhon was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 15 years, which prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with children under 18 or engaging in any voluntary or paid activities involving people under that age. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The investigation and subsequent trial underscore the authorities' commitment to addressing child sex abuse, regardless of when it occurred. Cambridgeshire Police's handling of the case, from the initial anonymous tip to the courtroom conviction, demonstrates a thorough and victim-centred approach, ensuring that Kedienhon's predatory behaviour was brought to justice after years of silence and suffering for the victim.
