Full Description

Nii Kojo Bortey, 31, from Honor Oak in south London, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court for the rape of a young girl. The attack occurred last September and was described as violent and sustained. Following the incident, Bortey visited a pharmacy to purchase the morning-after pill but refrained upon learning it was not free.

When the abuse was reported, police searched Bortey's phone and discovered photos depicting girls as young as six being sexually abused and raped. Despite initially confessing to officers and pleading guilty to raping a child, Bortey attempted to change his plea to not guilty while remanded in prison. He ultimately decided against this and proceeded to sentencing.

The court imposed a sentence of 13 years and three months in prison, along with an additional eight years on extended licence. This case was reported by News Shopper, highlighting the severity of child sex offences in the region.
