Offence Summary

Kishan Patel was jailed for 15 months for possessing videos and pictures of child sexual offences against young girls, traced from a device linked to him and his brother.

Full Description

Kishan Patel, 31, from Upton Park, was sentenced to 15 months in prison in October for possessing videos and pictures of sex crimes against young girls. His case is connected to that of his brother Vruj Patel, with evidence uncovered during a Metropolitan Police investigation into child sexual abuse material.

The investigation began in February when police received a third-party report about videos depicting child sexual offending found on a device sent for repair. Officers traced the device directly to Kishan Patel, confirming his possession of the illegal footage which showed offences against a young girl. Although Vruj Patel was identified as participating in one of the videos, Kishan's role centred on storing and maintaining access to the abusive content.

During the court proceedings, the prosecution presented digital evidence linking Kishan to the material, including the device's repair history and forensic analysis. The brothers' shared involvement came to light through this tracing, revealing a network of exploitation. Kishan did not contest the charges related to possession, leading to his guilty plea and subsequent sentencing.

The Metropolitan Police highlighted the case as an example of how routine device repairs can lead to the detection of serious crimes. The judge noted the devastating impact of such material on victims, justifying the custodial sentence despite its relatively shorter duration compared to Vruj's.
