Offence Summary

Patryk Orlowski, a convicted sex offender, appeared in court for breaching notification requirements by creating accounts on dating apps and messaging services without informing police. He pleaded guilty to five charges and was released on bail pending sentencing.

Full Description

Patryk Orlowski, a 40-year-old resident of Southampton, faced Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements imposed following his 2020 conviction.

Orlowski was previously convicted in 2020 of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child using chat applications. Upon pleading guilty to that offence, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register, which mandates that he notify police of any new online usernames or accounts he creates. Despite this, Orlowski admitted to setting up multiple accounts on various platforms earlier this year, in direct breach of those requirements.

The court heard details of the breaches, including the creation of the username “PATSOTON123” on the dating app Plenty of Fish, “PATKUAS82” on the messaging app Kik, and additional accounts on dating sites BBW Cupid and Badoo. These actions violated the court order from 2020, leading to five charges of non-compliance. Orlowski pleaded guilty to all counts during the hearing.

Following his plea, the court released Orlowski on bail. A pre-sentence report has been ordered, and he is scheduled to return to Southampton Magistrates’ Court on 2 February 2023 for sentencing. This case highlights ongoing monitoring of convicted sex offenders to prevent further risks, as reported by the Daily Echo court and crime reporter Timothy Edgley.
