Full Description

A 27-year-old man from Waterlooville, Promise Musemwa, has been imprisoned for sexually assaulting a teenage girl in a Portsmouth pub. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 25 September 2021, at the One-Eyed Dog pub located on Elm Grove in Southsea.

According to details reported by The News, the teenager was dancing when Musemwa approached her and carried out the assault by touching her inappropriately. The case proceeded to trial, where Musemwa was found guilty of sexual assault on 19 July 2023 at Portsmouth Crown Court.

On Thursday, prior to the publication of the article on 18 August 2023, Musemwa, residing at Downs Close in Waterlooville, was sentenced by Judge Henry to 12 months in prison. The judge described Musemwa’s actions as “unacceptable” and “arrogant” during the sentencing hearing.

Investigating officer DC Lauren Howard from Hampshire Constabulary commented on the case, stating: “I’d like to echo the Judge’s comments, Musemwa’s actions were totally unacceptable and I’m pleased that following a thorough investigation we have secured this result at court. It sends a clear message that we take all reports of sexual assault very seriously and will seek to secure justice for victims.”
