Full Description

Dominik Beri, 18, from Burton-upon-Trent, was jailed for six years on 28 July 2022 at Stafford Crown Court after being convicted of child sexual offences. He was among seven men detained on 19 December 2018 by Staffordshire Police's Child Protection and Exploitation Team, following reports of the sexual exploitation of three 13-year-old girls in the town between May and September 2018. The proceedings involved two trials in June 2021 and February 2022.

Beri was found guilty of raping a girl aged 13 to 15 and sexual assault on a female. The case exposed a network of abuse targeting vulnerable minors. As Detective Sergeant Julie Pointon stated: “We welcome these sentences and I would like to pay tribute to the girls’ incredible bravery in coming forward initially and throughout this long and complex investigation.”

The group's total sentence of 51 years imprisonment marks a significant judicial response. Detective Constable Darren Mattocks commented: “We remained focused on seeking justice and providing support to the victims, who remained our first priority.” This account, from Staffordshire Police's 2 August 2022 publication, highlights the dedication required to prosecute such cases effectively.
