Full Description

Aaron Purewal, a 32-year-old man from Bradford, West Yorkshire, has been found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences, including five rapes, after a trial at Bradford Crown Court.

The jury, after deliberating for nine hours and 23 minutes, convicted Purewal on ten charges on Monday, April 13. These included five counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, one count of intentional suffocation, one count of intentional strangulation, and one count of sexual assault. He was acquitted on four other charges: one count of rape, one count of attempted rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of common assault.

Purewal, who has no fixed abode but was formerly resident on Well Street on the edge of Little Germany in Bradford, will be required to register as a sex offender. Her Honour Judge Sophie McKone adjourned the proceedings until June 26 for sentencing and remanded Purewal into custody, stating: "You can expect a very long sentence." The case was investigated by West Yorkshire Police, with the offences occurring in the Bradford area.

The convictions highlight the severity of the sexual violence involved, with the court proceedings underscoring the impact on victims through the detailed evidence presented during the trial. This outcome follows a thorough prosecution led by local authorities in West Yorkshire.
