Full Description

Nathan Anthony Savory, a 35-year-old resident of Chamberlayne Road in Eastleigh, has been imprisoned for seven years following his conviction for historic sex offences against a teenage girl. The abuse occurred over a period of several years in Eastleigh, spanning from March 2011 to March 2013, with the victim being just 13 years old at the time of the first incident.

The case came to light in 2021 when the victim, then aged 23, bravely reported the offences to the police. She had attempted to come forward earlier but was deterred by threats made by Savory. Following a thorough investigation by Hampshire Constabulary, Savory was charged and stood trial at Southampton Crown Court. On 8 December 2023, a jury found him guilty on four counts of sexual abuse after rejecting his account in light of the strong evidence presented.

Savory was sentenced on 16 February 2024 at Southampton Crown Court, receiving a seven-year custodial term for his crimes, which were described as being committed for his own sexual gratification without regard for the profound and lasting impact on the child victim. Police Staff Investigator Keely Osborne commended the victim's courage, stating: "The victim in this case has shown amazing courage, not least in reading out her own statement, with no screens and a very full courtroom. She said she wanted to stand up and speak for her 14-year-old self and that is exactly what she has done." Osborne further highlighted the victim's support for the investigation and expressed hope that the sentence would allow her to move forward, knowing Savory could no longer harm others.

The conviction underscores Hampshire Constabulary's commitment to pursuing justice in child sex abuse cases, with Osborne adding: "I am so pleased for her that justice has now been served in this case. Savory abused her for his own sexual gratification, without a moment’s thought for the child and the long-lasting effects his crimes would have on her." The case was reported by the Daily Echo, drawing on details from court proceedings and police statements to detail the timeline and severity of the offences.
