Offence Summary

Luckvindar Singh, a 41-year-old paedophile, used social media to groom a child he believed to be 12 years old by sending sexually explicit images and videos, and was subsequently jailed for his offences.

Full Description

Luckvindar Singh, aged 41, engaged in online grooming activities targeting a child he believed to be 12 years old. Utilising various social media platforms, Singh initiated conversations with the child, frequently offering compliments to build rapport before escalating the interactions to a sexual nature.

As part of his grooming efforts, Singh sent intimate photographs and videos of himself, including footage of him performing a sex act. He further inquired whether the child would be willing to 'meet an older guy', demonstrating clear intent to progress the exploitation. These actions were uncovered during a joint investigation conducted by Cleveland Police and the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Organised Crime Unit (YHROCU).

In February 2025, the Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) from Cleveland Police arrested Singh at his home address. Officers seized his electronic devices, which were subsequently examined by the Digital Forensics Unit (DFU). The forensic analysis revealed the incriminating video sent to the child, along with four additional videos classified as extreme pornography.

Singh faced multiple charges, including two counts of causing a child to watch or look at an image of sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, and possession of an extreme pornographic image. He pleaded guilty to all offences during court proceedings.

On Tuesday, 7 April 2026, at Teesside Crown Court, Singh was sentenced to 28 months' imprisonment. Additionally, he was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for a period of 10 years and subjected to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). Investigating officer Detective Constable Barnes from POLIT commented: 'Despite being told the person he was speaking was 12 years old, Singh continued to groom her for his own sexual gratification.' Detective Chief Inspector George Bardell of YHROCU added: 'Our team of online investigators work tirelessly to ensure that predators like Singh are identified so they cannot pose a threat to children. By working alongside Cleveland Police, we have been able to demonstrate the strength in partnership working and ensured that justice is served.'

The case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat online child exploitation, with Cleveland Police encouraging reports of suspicious online activities via their website or by dialling 101.
