Offence Summary

Jason Bennett Thomas was jailed for 19 years for sexually abusing two young girls in offences that took place 16 years apart.

Full Description

Jason Bennett Thomas, 47, from Caerhun, Bangor, has been imprisoned for 19 years after being found guilty of 11 charges of sexually abusing two young girls. The offences occurred 16 years apart, and Thomas denied the charges but was convicted by a jury at Caernarfon Crown Court.

Judge Huw Rees remarked that Thomas had ingratiated himself into the victims' lives for his own selfish purposes and provided a totally lying account to the jury, forcing the victims to give evidence. The sentence includes an extended licence period of one year, making it effectively 20 years. Thomas was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order prohibiting unsupervised contact with children under 16.

The case, handled by North Wales Police, illustrates the severe consequences for those who perpetrate sexual abuse against vulnerable young victims over extended periods.
