Full Description

Zahid Hussain, 48 and from Dewsbury, was one of four men who sexually abused a young teenager over a period of three years in the 1990s. The victim, who was under 16 at the time, was subjected to indecent assaults that caused devastating and long-lasting psychological harm.

Hussain faced six counts of indecent assault, which were committed alongside the actions of his co-defendants. After a trial at Leeds Crown Court in April 2026, he was found guilty and was sentenced on 4 June 2026 to 10 years and 6 months in prison. The court heard that the abuse had taken place between 1994 and 1997, and Hussain knew the victim was a child when he offended.

The victim's impact statement described how the abuse had shattered her sense of self. She said: "They took pieces of my soul, pieces of my body, pieces of me that I will never get back. They made sure I would never be the same again." Hussain joins the other defendants in being jailed for the sexual offences, with the judge noting the seriousness of the childhood trauma that had occurred.
