Offence Summary

Full Description

A former teacher from Kidderminster has been sentenced to three years in prison for historic sexual offences committed during his time at a local secondary school. David Wilkinson, aged 77 and residing in Vinsac, Le Vigeant, France, was found guilty following a trial at Worcester Crown Court.

The offences date back to the 1980s when Wilkinson was employed as a schoolteacher at Wolverley Secondary School. He was convicted of three counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16 years. The court heard that Wilkinson abused his position of trust to perpetrate the sexual abuse against a person in his care.

Sentencing took place on 5th November 2025. For two of the counts, Wilkinson received 18 months each, to run consecutively, while the third count carried an 18-month sentence to run concurrently, resulting in a total custodial term of three years.

Investigating officer DC Nasri, of North Worcestershire CID, commented on the case: "We are pleased to have obtained this custodial sentence today for an offender who perpetrated sexual abuse during his employment as a schoolteacher. He abused his position of trust to prey on a person in his care, and I would like to pay tribute to the bravery and resilience of his victim who has suffered for many years before the case came to the courts." DC Nasri further emphasised the commitment to justice, stating: "We hope today’s verdict shows we will always listen to anyone who has concerns about or has been a victim of sexual abuse and prosecute where appropriate, no matter how long ago that was."

The case was handled by North Worcestershire CID, part of West Mercia Police, highlighting their dedication to pursuing historic sexual abuse allegations. The conviction underscores the ongoing efforts to hold perpetrators accountable for child sex offences, even decades after they occurred.
